The Battle of Thermopylae was a battle between the alliance of Greek city-states and the Persian Empire during the second Persian invasion of Greece. The Greek force of approximately 7,000 marched to block the coastal pass of Thermopylae in the summer of 480 BC from entry by the Persian Army. Numbering in the hundred thousand, the Persian Army was held off for seven days before the rear-guard was annihilated in one of history_s most famous last stands. This armor helmet was the main helm used by the Persian soldiers and is characterized by the grid on the face of the armor helmet. After two full days of fighting and the betrayal of the Greeks by a local resident who showed the Persian Army an alternate path, the rear guard of 300 Spartans, 700 Thespians and 400 Thebans valiantly fought to the death. This costume is once again made famous by the 2007 American movie Sparta 300. This is also one of my favorite costumes to wear for Halloween. Important Features:
