The cross on the front of this armor helmet makes it unmistakably a Crusader armor helmet. Crusaders were legions of soldiers who were dispatched to retake the Holy Land which is supposedly in the hands of non-believers. One of the most famous Crusaders is King Richard the Lion Heart. Richard l reigned as King of England from 1189-99 and fulfilled his dream of becoming a Crusader in 1190 leaving the ruling of England to others. Towards the end of his reign he had adapted the lion emblems as part of his war costume and his shield (handed down from his grandfather) became affixed with the image of three lions. His war costume also included a tunic that had a huge cross emblazoned on the front and and back and is the most recognizable symbol of the crusade. His army mostly wore the crusader armor helmet with the cross on the front while his armor helmet had his crown attached to it. Important Features:
