The Illyrian war history starts from the early 2nd millennium BC up to the 1st century AD in the region of Illyria and in southern Italy. It involved the Illyrian Army and their neighboring nations and tribes. The Illyrian army soldier was buried with their weapons and armor such as breastplates, leg guards or greaves, light javelins and swords. Since during that time the use of Bronze was getting to be very popular, those who could afford it wore bronze armor and leg guards or greaves. When the Iron age came about, there were two types of shield that became popular. They were the Illyrian circular shield and the oval or rectangular type which were used by the northern tribes. The circular shield was made of wood and leather with a bronze metal boss and resembled the Macedonian version. The oval shield resembled a type of ancient oblong shield that was introduced by the Celts. This is an ancient costume that could be a great conversation starter in a Halloween costume party but you must review your history prior to going or else... Important Features:
