A Roman Army Thracian Footman in the 3rd to the 1st century BC wielded a knife or sword, Rhomphaia, a helmet, two javelins and a light oval wooden shield or a heavier iron rimmed and spinned thureos. No Roman Army Thracians wore greaves or leather armor cuirass until the 4th century. Later natives and Greek types of weapons started to be used although the Greek type was quite seldom. The Thracians used Thracian and Greek equipment and leather or metal armor cuirass from different time periods. It came to the point that they were wearing armors that ceased to be used elsewhere. Later they would adopt Roman Army armaments and armor. This is the costume that you should wear to a re-enactment or costume party if you wanted to represent the Hellenic or Hellenistic period of the Roman Empire. Important Features:
