The chainmail armor or the lorica hamata first appeared sometime after 300 BC and its invention was credited to the Celts. The chainmail armor or lorica hamata may have been inspired by similar armor of much earlier design called scale armor. The use of the chainmail armor by the Roman Army was common during the Iron Age and the Middle Ages but became less used in the 16th and 17th centuries. The earliest recovered chainmail armor was in the 3rd century from Celtic chieftain_s burial ground in Romania. The Roman Army is believed to have encountered the chainmail armor in fighting the Gauls in Cisalpine Gaul which is now Northern Italy. The Roman Army then adopted the technology for its troops in the form of lorica hamata. This costume is best worn with a sweater underneath when attending reenactments or costume parties during the winter months. Important Features: _ Size : na _ Finish : Silver _ Material : Metal
