The chainmail armor or lorica hamata also spread out to the Middle East and Asia through the Roman Army. It was first adapted by the Persians in the 3rd Century AD. The chainmail armor or lorica hamata played a supplemental role to the scale and lamellar armors already in use. The Roman Army cavalry also used the chainmail armor on their horses.
