Richard II_s father was Edward, the Black prince and his mother was Joan of Kent. Edward, heir to the throne of England proved himself as a military commander in the late medieval times. Richard II was born in Bordeaux, in January 6, 1367. One of the more important plagues of the late medieval times was the Black Death in 1348-50 where 35 million people died in Europe. In 1371, his elder brother died making him the sole heir of his father who also succumbed to his long illness in 1376. Because the congress did not trust his uncle, John of Gaunt, Richard II was crowned King of England at the young age of 10 after his grandfather, Edward III also died. During his reign, the soldiers still wore the leather and metal gauntlet as armor for the arm. Later in his reign, a group of rebellious Earls, threw their leather and metal gauntlet in his presence to demand justice for their rebellion. This costume is highlighted by a robe of royal standard and wearing it to any costume party will give you that royal distinction. Important Features:
