In English riding disciplines throughout the world, English saddles are used to ride horses. This style of horse saddle is used in all Olympic and FEI equestrian events except for the newly approved FEI events of equestrian vaulting and reining. FEI is the acronym International federation of Equestrian Sports. Most designs were specifically developed to allow the horse freedom of movement. The difference of the English saddle from the western saddle or Australian stock saddle is that there is no horn or other design elements that stick out above the main tree of the saddle. The English saddle is based on a solid tree, over which webbing, leather padding materials are added. During the 18th century, most riders in Europe used high-pommel and cantle saddles with wooden frame for classical dressage. This 18th century design was based on a model used for bullfighting, cattle work, long distance travel and mounted combat. Important Features:
